What does a website cost in Switzerland?
The range runs from three hundred to eighty thousand francs, and almost nobody explains why. Here are the numbers and the reasons behind them.
The ranges
A landing page runs CHF 2,500 to 5,000. A small company site of five to ten pages, CHF 5,000 to 15,000. A site with its own design, several languages and real ambition, CHF 15,000 to 30,000. Above that begins the territory of platforms, shops and connections to existing systems. Swiss agencies work at hourly rates between CHF 120 and 250.
What actually drives the price
Not the number of pages, but four things: whether the design is drawn for you or a template is filled in, how many languages there are, which systems have to be connected, and who writes the content. Each additional language costs forty to sixty per cent in practice, because navigation, addresses and upkeep grow with it, not only the translation.
The line item that is missing most often
Content. Anyone planning to supply their own text and images almost always underestimates how long that takes. Missing content is the most common reason a launch slips by weeks. Ask every quote who writes the text and what happens if it is late.
Why hardly anyone publishes prices
Because a list price is too high for the simple project and too low for the demanding one. That holds as long as an agency builds everything from scratch. An agency that uses the same foundation every time and varies only the content can write a price down. Which is why ours is on the site.
The running costs
Hosting, domain, maintenance, updates. Realistically CHF 30 to 120 a month depending on scope. Watch subscription models that bundle building and running: check what happens to your website if you cancel.
