Business email, stored in Geneva
Instead of email at a US corporation or on an old server of your own: EMX on your domain, in every mail app, for CHF 4 a mailbox.
Today
The email sits with an American corporation, and so under a law that lets US authorities reach data wherever it is stored. Or it sits on a server of your own that nobody has updated in years, and the person who set it up no longer works here.
Afterwards
EMX accepts your domain's mail, stores it encrypted in Geneva and makes it available in the browser and in every mail app, over IMAP and SMTP. The company manages shared inboxes, groups and rules itself. A mailbox can be sealed, and then even subject and sender are stored only encrypted on the server.
How it works
In the apps that are already there
Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and the phone's mail app find the settings themselves. Each device gets its own app password, which can be revoked on its own.
Where the data is
Messages encrypted in Geneva, the database in Frankfurt, its copies in Nuremberg and Paris. Our own servers deliver outgoing mail.
One API for everything
The web client uses the same documented API you can use, with signed webhooks when a message arrives or cannot be delivered.
You can leave
Every mailbox can be exported at any time, over IMAP or the API, and for 30 days after cancelling.
What it costs
CHF 4 per mailbox and month for companies, with 50 GB per mailbox, shared inboxes and groups. With your own Resend account for outgoing mail it is CHF 3; outgoing mail then goes through that American service. For one person with their own business, one mailbox is free.
What it cannot do
- No calendars and no contacts (CalDAV, CardDAV), and no Exchange ActiveSync. If you share appointments through the mail server today, you still need another service for that.
- No scanning for known viruses yet. Executable attachments are refused, in archives too.
- Not an archive in the sense of the retention duty, and no committed availability.
