Medical and therapy practices

Fewer calls at reception, less paper in the process.

In a practice, time goes missing where trained staff settle appointments on the phone and retype forms. We build websites, portals and email that take this off their hands, and we say exactly where the data sits and what we do not offer.

Where the time goes

Appointments and questions arrive by phone

Appointment requests, rescheduling, a question about a prescription: much of it comes in as a call, often during the busiest hours. Whoever is on the phone at reception is not looking after the people in the room. And staff are scarce: in the Swiss Skills Shortage Index 2025 by Adecco and the University of Zurich, specialists in health professions rank first.

Exchange with other providers stays clumsy

In the Swiss eHealth Barometer 2026, health professionals rate digital connectivity inside their own institution at 68 out of 100, and connectivity with other institutions at only 42, falling since 2024. According to the same survey, 22 per cent of doctors connected to the electronic patient record use it in their daily work.

Details get entered twice

Personal details, insurance and questionnaires are often filled in on paper and then typed into the practice software by hand. Every transfer costs minutes and is another chance for a typing error.

What we build instead

A website that saves calls.

Opening hours, services, directions and emergency information that you keep current yourself, and a form for appointment requests that asks only what reception needs. It lands in the admin area and in your inbox. Two languages as standard, built to the accessibility criteria, no cookie banner. CHF 6,000 fixed price, then CHF 300 a month.

A portal for details before the appointment.

As a mandate, we build a place where patients fill in personal details and questionnaires in advance, signing in through EAuth with a passkey or a password and a second factor. The practice takes over the details instead of retyping them.

Business email on your domain.

EMX (Beta) with a shared mailbox for reception, stored encrypted in Geneva, at CHF 4 per mailbox and month. A mailbox can be sealed: messages, subject and sender included, are then stored so that only the person's key opens them, and we cannot read them either.

What we do not build: practice management software, billing, or a connection to the electronic patient record.

What you can expect from us

Professional secrecy.
Doctors, dentists, chiropractors, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, osteopaths and other health professions, together with their auxiliaries, are bound by professional secrecy (Art. 321 Criminal Code). Health data is sensitive personal data (Art. 5 FADP). You may hand data to a processor only if no duty of secrecy forbids it and the processor can guarantee data security (Art. 9 FADP). Whether that holds for a given process is your decision; we give you the facts in writing.
Data location.
Stored data sits on our own servers at European providers in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and France. The named exception: notification mails, such as the message about a new enquiry from the form, are sent by Resend, a US service. That is why we build forms so that no health details appear in those mails.
Retention.
Cantonal law sets how long patient records are kept. Since 2020, claims for bodily injury become time-barred only after 20 years (Art. 60 and 128a Code of Obligations), which is why the care association CURAVIVA, for one, recommends keeping health-related documents for 20 years. EMX is not an archive for this.
Contract and export.
A data processing agreement under Art. 9 FADP is part of our legal texts. You can export all data in full at any time.
What is missing.
No ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, no independent security audit.

Questions we hear

Can patients send us test results through the website?

Not through the contact form, because the notification about it arrives as an ordinary email. For documents we build a portal with sign-in, where the data stays on our servers.

Does EMX replace our calendar?

No. EMX has no calendars or contacts and no Exchange ActiveSync. If you share appointments through your mail server today, you will still need another service for that.

Is an email to another practice protected with EMX?

EMX protects what is stored with us: encrypted in Geneva, sealed if you choose. An email to another practice leaves our servers, and how it is stored there is up to their provider.

Will you connect to our practice software?

Only if it offers an interface for it, and we settle that before the offer. If it already has the function you are looking for, we tell you so rather than building something new.

Tell us where reception gets stuck

A short message is enough. Within two working days someone from the team that would build it replies. Write to us at elchi.dev/en/kontakt or call +41 58 513 63 11, weekdays from 8 to 18.
